IADT students win SAP InnoJam at the Dublin AppHaus

On 05-03-2014 after one night of brainstorming, designing and coding, Jonathan Byrne, Rob McMackin, William McMorrow and Thorsten Schaeff were announced as the winning team of the 2014 SAP InnoJam at the Dublin AppHaus (city west campus). Competing against seven teams from universities from all over Ireland in a fifteen hour innovation and programming competition the third level student team from IADT convinced the jury with a simple but powerful application that visualizes the variability of travel durations on public transportations during the course of the day. Utilizing the computing power of SAP’s in-memory database “HANA”, the four students managed to calculate the average travel time on any bus route in Dublin using fifteen months of Dublin Bus traffic data provided by Dublinked.
